Neighbor’s contractor annoys caller

A Brookby Lane caller June 16 complained her neighbor was having tree work done at her home, resulting in blocking the caller’s driveway. Police went to the neighbor’s home and suggested the contractor be allowed to park their vehicles in her driveway instead of blocking the neighbor’s.

Tires damaged by village road work

A caller June 18 said all four tires of their vehicle were damaged from blacktop work being done by the Village of Scarsdale in the area of Heathcote Road. A report was taken for documentation.

Out of gas

Police were dispatched June 18 to Crossway after multiple callers reported a car out of gas. They met with the operator who said she was on her way to a concert in Portchester (she’s from Brooklyn). A kind citizen brought her a can of gas but she didn’t know how to get it into the tank so police assisted her. She was given a summons for driving with a suspended license and soon left the area.

More rocks in the roadway

A caller June 19 reported rocks in the roadway in the vicinity of Oxford and Post Road damaged his car, disabling it. A tow truck responded and set things to right and the reporting party drove away. Police removed more rocks from the roadway from Huntington to Farley Roads. The sidewalk was intact, they said. No further police assistance was required.

Guys in hoodies breaking into parked cars

A caller on Mamaroneck Road June 16 said three people wearing hoodies tried to get into cars parked in the caller’s driveway. The cars were locked and they left.

A Ridgedale Road caller June 19 said their car was entered illegally overnight and her phone charger was removed and then dropped on the ground beside the car. She said her video surveillance showed two people in hoodies were on her property who then left on foot.

A caller on Mamaroneck Road June 19 said her 2024 BMW was broken into; money was taken and the keys to her other BMW were stolen. To enter her car, she said the perps broke the passenger side window. $2,000 in cash was removed from the car. Police told her to take the secondary car and its spare fob to the dealership immediately to have it reprogrammed.

A Harvest Drive caller June 19 said someone attempted to enter their car overnight. His home surveillance video showed three males wearing masks, hoodies, glasses and gloves entering his wife’s car. She said the only missing things were chewing gum and spare change. The caller said they left the area in a light colored sedan.

A Lenox Place caller June 19 reported her unlocked car was entered overnight. She reported stolen some loose change.

Hey, little weiner dog

A small brown “wiener dog” was reported June 19 running loose in the vicinity of Saxon Woods Road and Boulder Brook Rd. The dog was reported to be wearing a pink collar. Police looked for the errant dachshund without result.

Pest control peddlers lack proper paperwork

A solicitor peddling pest riddance products was reported knocking on doors and ringing doorbells on Windmill Circle June 21. Police advised he needed a permit to solicit and he said he would obtain proper paperwork. Meanwhile, more pest control solicitors were reported by residents that day on Catherine Road, Brewster Road, Huntington Avenue, Wheelock Road, Secor Road and Hickory Lane.

Dozed off

A driver on Brite Avenue near Whig Road June 22 told police he fell asleep behind the wheel and veered off the road, striking a utility pole and a street sign. He said he was very fatigued and has a history of sleep apnea. Neither the driver or their teen passenger were injured.

Valuable watches stolen through identity theft

Police are investigating twin events of larceny and identity theft believed to have taken place June 6 or June 7, but reported June 21. A 19 year old’s name and address were provided to the police as a possible suspect. The reporting party, a Scarsdale business owner, said two Rolex watches, each valued at $17,500, were stolen through credit card fraud. The business owner said they were informed of a charge back from a credit card company due to a fraudulent charge, leaving the business owner at a substantial financial loss.

Dog vs bird

A Birchall Drive caller June 23 notified police her dog injured a small bird. She was offered information about a trapper but requested police take a look first. On arrival, an officer provided her with the contact of an animal trapper.
