Bad driving will get you busted.

No fishing

A caller May 28 reported two men fishing in a pond near Brewster Road and Olmstead Road. Another person said two kids were fishing but left when told that activity was prohibited.

Bad driving will get you busted

A Bronx man, 45, was arrested May 29 charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and other motor vehicle offenses after police pulled him over for a traffic stop on Hutchinson Avenue. He was advised his car would be towed and was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released with a return date to court June 12.

Lock your car

Expensive sunglasses and loose change were reported stolen from a car parked on Edgewood Road May 28. The victim is a woman, 37. The car wasn’t locked.

A duffle bag, very expensive headphones, airpods and a pair of pricey sunglasses were reported stolen from a parked car on Ferncliff Road May 28. The reporting party said these items were stolen overnight. The victim, 27, said the car wasn’t locked.

Runaway suitcase

A Post Road caller May 28 told police her purple suitcase on rollers was stolen from her car; there was a little more to it as the suitcase wasn’t actually inside her car when it went missing and seems to have rolled away. She tracked it through her iPad device to an address in Eastchester. Police went to that location and spoke with some contractors who found the bag but there was a language barrier. One man said he put it in his work truck after he saw it rolling on Post Road where it was obstructing traffic and was intending to turn it into the police. Police took custody of the suitcase; the owner couldn’t prove it was hers because she couldn’t get into it due to a TSA lock. She thanked police for getting it back and said she would be following up with the TSA how to unlock it.

What was going on here?

Police went to Depot Plaza May 30 for a report of a possible “strong arm” robbery. Several witnesses told police the victim was a man wearing a plaid coat who was chasing another man wearing a hoodie tracksuit and a white face mask. They were seen in the vicinity of Ardsley Road and Lynwood Road. Multiple agencies including the MTA were advised to be on the lookout. One of the witnesses reported seeing blood on the first man’s neck. Why anyone thought there’d been a robbery remains a mystery.

Remove, don’t shoot

A caller May 30 on Black Birch Lane said there was a snake in her yard. She said an HVAC worker saw it in the condenser and wanted to shoot it but it was too close to the house. Meanwhile the homeowner’s son in law used a grabber tool to relocate the snake to the other side of the river on the caller’s property. No police action was deemed necessary.

Harsh words

A Pinecrest Road caller May 30 told police there is a dog walker in the neighborhood who continues to verbally abuse her and lets the dog poop on her lawn (and doesn’t clean up). Police took a report for documentation.

Not my car

A Tunstall Road caller May 30 said an unknown car was parked in her driveway. Keys were left in her mailbox. Police determined the car was recently serviced and was dropped off at the wrong address. Contact was made with the owner who came to collect it.

Just go away

Police took a report May 31 from an Oak Lane resident who complained her ex-girlfriend continues to annoy her and her family, contacting them via phone message and attempting contact through social media. The reporting party told police she blocked this person and would press harassment charges if the contact continues. A report was made for documentation only.

Distracted driving

A driver on River Road May 28 told police she got distracted removing her coffee from its cupholder and crashed into a utility pole. She said she was “shook but not injured.” Her car was towed from the scene by R&D Towing.

Teens looking for a little fun

Teens were reported drinking alcohol June 1 at the parking structure on Freightway Road. Police arriving to check it out saw kids riding bikes on the rooftop. They were advised to stop and left the area without incident. There was no evidence of alcohol or any other illegal behavior.

This report was made from official reports provided by the Scarsdale Police Department.
